GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Conflict is inevitable; both positive and negative consequences may occur depending on how the conflict is managed
  • Trust is a pillar that allows safety during difficult conversations
  • Results are likely to be better with active engagement rather than avoidance
  • People must be motivated to address conflict
  • Behavioral, cognitive, and emotional skills can be acquired
  • Emotional skills require self-awareness
  • The environment for resolving conflict must be neutral and safe

CONFLICT & COMMUNICATION TRAINING

We offer two types of coaching for physicians and administrators.

The first helps individuals approach a potential or actual conflict more productively, consistent with work objectives and within a "just culture" framework. The second is for physician leaders and administrators, to support them in their roles.

PEER GROUPS FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING

We help groups accomplish their tasks and priorities under challenging circumstances where team members are not optimally communicating and collaborating.

Drs. Natterson and Stuart act as true "neutrals," representing a process of bringing people together in collaboration rather than representing the interest of any one person or group.

PEER GROUPS FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Physician leaders and administrators, including Chiefs of Staff and Chief Medical Officers, often receive little formal training prior to assuming these roles.

Our Peer Forums offer confidential opportunities to share and discuss concerns and challenges commonly encountered in these critical roles. The group forums are supplemented by monthly 1:1 coaching sessions.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

PEER GROUPS FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

We are a resource to clients regarding difficult situations where communication and understanding is subpar. We act as a sounding board, offer insights based upon our extensive experience, and help clients assess what additional resources and courses of action are available to meet their needs.

Separately, consulting may include onsite evaluation of policies and procedures related to conflict management.

MEDIATION TO SETTLE DISPUTES

PEER GROUPS FOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT CONSULTING

When disputes arise, facilitation and/or coaching will often meet our clients' needs.

Occasionally, alternative dispute resolution in the form of mediation becomes appropriate and necessary. As trained mediators, we help conflicted parties achieve resolution prior to giving up control to judges or juries.

If attorneys are already involved, we can provide the support needed to arrive at settlement.
